Possibly dumb question - is there any way of adding several computers to one username, or do I have to have a separate login account for each one?

According to FAQ on the site you got to have a login for each computer. If you use same login on more than one computer you will mess up your stats

P.S. Theres a new user with longest uptime on team now _________________

Blast. I was 2nd, but my Windows got it's knickers in a twist and I had to re-boot last night. _________________ Creationists believe they never evolved; I agree with them.

That's what I get for looking at the user statistics page, and not the team page. _________________ When in doubt, kick it until it works. |

So I just joined up today. I saw everyone on our team is running windows... decided to add a little spice to life and put my linux box on there. Unfortunately it has just recovered from some hardware issues and has only been up for 2 days. But in the past this box has had uptimes of over 100 days.
I also mentioned the project in a linux related IRC channel I'm in. One of the guys in there decided to go see how linux calculates uptime. He then proceded to tinker with his running kernel (a very bad idea unless you don't mind your linux box crashing) and managed to trick his computer into saying it had been up without a reboot since January 1, 1970. All of this in about 30 minutes. So keep in mind that this project really doesn't have any safeguards against such cheating and as such shouldn't be viewed as too serious of a thing - but still kind of fun I just wish you could attach more than one computer to a single user account. |

Now I just need to wait for all you windows types to hit a "Microsoft Patch Tuesday" and I will take over the world... errr... I mean the project. |

ON HO! A storm just came through town. While power remained steady (I also have a UPS to make sure of that) there was a powerful gust of wind (a microburst?). This gust knocked a fan out of my window. On the way down it made contact with my laptop (no damage) and my alarm clock. The alarm clock tumbled down as well and somewhere in the mix with the fan and the alarm clock and this force we know as "gravity" something hit the reset button on the front of the linux box which had the 4 day uptime so now it just restarted Oh well. It shall rise again to join my box at work!
P.S. It seems kind of like I'm talking to myself here. Please tell me, is this a good sign or a bad sign? |

I'm stopping this project, everytime I get a lot of days, micropuke updates and I have to restart. This updates are for the birds. If gay-bates got it right the first time this wouldn't happen. _________________ Don't fuss about growing older, many are denied the chance. |

What you and Mildew do in privacy is you own business, but I'd rather not read about it. _________________ KWSN Forum Admin

You'd rather not read about it ? Could I possibly interest you in some video then ?

There is always linux The only time they get rebooted is when sir fart (apparently) passes gas, knocking things over and causing them to push reset buttons Luckily my work computer is not near any windows (the glass kind) so it is a little more protected from the flatulence. |
